Lovethorn launched in 2023 with the shared passion of reinventing risk for an insurance industry facing unprecedented technological change.

James Lovett

Founder & CEO

James brings with him almost two decades of insurance and entrepreneurial experience and expertise to Lovethorn. 

Previously co-founding and spending 13 years building the insurance research and advisory firm, Immerse. He has worked with a wide range of blue-chip insurers, reinsurers, friendly societies and cash plan providers. Advising on product development, brand positioning and strengthening customer touchpoints.

A big believer in the power of innovation, technology and timing - James sees Lovethorn as perfectly placed to drive a positive impact in the insurance industry and wider society.

Outside of work he'll ideally be found golfing in the summer, skiing in the winter, and keeping up with his young family the rest of the time. 

Gailynn Nickes, Chief Product Officer (CPO) Lovethorn

Gailynn Nicks

Chief Product Officer

Gailynn has built a distinguished career designing, developing and implementing industry first data models for some of the world's biggest brands.

Spending 25 years in global technical and managerial roles, she has innovated using primary, secondary and unstructured data sets - she is the best in the business at what she does.

Using her core technical base in statistics, research, systems and technology, along with her knowledge of psychology, sociology and economic thinking, she leads our R&D and product design.

Home life is split between her rapidly expanding globally spread family, gardening, and mentoring young researchers through their professional qualifications.

Lara Rendell, Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Lovethorn

Lara Rendell

Chief Marketing Officer

Lara is an innovative and highly accomplished marketer. She has been at the forefront of insurance marketing for the last 15 years, now leading our marketing and go-to-market strategy.

Recently spending nine years at Vitality in a range of marketing leadership roles, also working at Catalyst Creative, Health Shield and tech start-up THG.

Lara is an expert in both digital and content marketing.  She possesses a deep understanding of the customer and the importance of customer journeys.

Outside of work is an equal balance of travelling, good food and the gym - she is also an ambassador for Child Hope Development Organisation in Tanzania. 

Cleiver Moreno, Head of data and analytics Lovethorn

Cleiver Moreno

Head of Data & Analytics

Cleiver is a data science, analytics and statistical modelling expert. He leads our data and analytics, bringing with him a real depth and breadth of industry experience. 

He joins Lovethorn after running various data and marketing analytics teams at Expedia Group and Previously spending several years in the Global Modelling Unit at Ipsos, measuring loyalty and marketing efectiveness for a string of UK and global clients.  

Outside of work, Cleiver enjoys cooking with his daughters, trekking and attempting to do some gardening.
